Maybe you just have a bad download or burn then. 2.4.2 is working better than many previous versions on my particular computer.

Yes, I have burned the image correctly (the same procedure as with every
other live cd), and it actually DOES boot. However, isolinux don't find
the right kernel - or any kernel at all.
