i can imagine that mapping the position of spare hardware willing to be
donated is already a good step forward for this. it could be used some
googlemaps variant or so, then people that is traveling thru places can
hook up at their convenience and needs...

at least that's how i do it, as well Asbesto of the Freaknet medialab
who is building the http://dyne.org/museum with historical hardware we
are getting donated: when we are traveling we can check if along the
path there are some useful things to move...

this is all in my todo, only problem is that i didn't found much time
for it so far. i had an attempt to do a fstab.static mechanism which you can
also see in the subversion respository history, and the splash screen
and sound to be deactivated with a checkbox... i'll see what i can do,
otherwise feel free to hack the scripts and contribute anything if
you're succesful with it, those would be indeed useful contributions ;)
