Swap? Have a swap file or enough memory to omit swap. According to at
least one authority, a swap part is slightly faster than a swap file.
So the ultra-slim configuration for a BIOS machine is one part,
possibly with a swap file. For UEFI: protective MBR, FAT formatted
EFI and a part with /root, /home, etc.

You've convinced me to amalgamate /root and /home.
Generally I try to be aware of surroundings. Many ideas don't change
my behaviour. Occasionally a small gem such as "cp -dpR" turns up.
More rarely a large gem.
Thanks! ... P.
