Consider the situation including systemd, exim, Firefox, GIMP and
other softwares. Developers have focused narrowly. Added features
according to specific interests and work-arounds for problems better
solved elsewhere. The net effect is declining system efficiency and
useability.

Some bloat can be replaced with alternative software. Finding and
learning to use an alternative is an investment. It's worthwhile.
The result is a more streamlined and satisfactory system.
