It was mentioned that one solution may be running Wayland apps on X11 here too but I have also heard that Wayland support for OpenBSD is coming along so no idea what will happen there. I expect it will be a while if any switch to Wayland happens but no idea really. I guess at some point they might consider whether Wayland is actually more secure.
