Unless he has self compiled or self created stuff needing Python 2.7.
I'd recommend backing up the Python 2.7 executable to another name,
replace the current python2.7 executable with a zenity popup stating
that the former Python 2.7 has been called. Run like that for 2 months.
If you don't see the zenity popup, you can be a lot more sure that
Python 2.7 isn't needed at all on your computer.

My idea is in addition to, not instead of, checking whether any
*packages* depend on Python 2.7.
