Hello List
I see that the librewolf people maintain a debian repository which
one can get at with extrepo.
But what are the thoughts of incorporating it into the default
one ? Normally I wouldn't suggest this, as every extra repository
adds attack surface, however in this case it may be worth it:
- Using a modern web browser is the biggest security risk the
casual computer use takes. So offering a more secure and
respectful browser may outweigh the risk of "less vetted" package
maintainers.
- The matter of solidarity - both librewolf and devuan are
breakaways / forks from complex software projects and
there may be lessons which can be learnt, and so closer
co-operation may be totally worth it.
For people who don't know about librewolf, the following
https://sizeof.cat/post/web-browser-telemetry-2025-edition/
may be enlightening. The fact that they use codeberg
rather than github is also rather reassuring. There is a
case to be made that librewolf should be the default
web devuan browser...
