I was complaining also a couple of days ago in irc/libera/#devuan and in
irc/oftc/#qemu !

Devuan on qemu with user network backend has /etc/resolv.conf set to
10.0.2.3 (DNS) . That doesnt work. When i changed it to 8.8.8.8 or
10.0.2.2 (host) both worked. But at reboot /etc/resolv.conf again
it was set to 10.0.2.3.

Well in #devuan i was also told to make file immutable.

Also months ago trying to implement some form of rudimentary
parental controls in my home lan i got into the magical weird
jungle world of www-browser dns setting .
That issues crosssection also with using pi-hole as dns server.
Again i had bumbed upon resolv.conf.

Also during fresh devuan installations frequenlty i wonder if
setting dns to a value that i want is a setting that should be
made early , what are my choices and the implications , and
whether that could be done.

So my proposal is to use that occasion to rethink that innocuous (in
the appearances ) issue more thoroghly. Although i have a feeling
that the dns choice crosslines with politics. But i support
policies that offer reliable and forthcoming choice in that matter.

Being a sysadm on a system that dont respect your choices but someone
else choices is a rather peculiar predicament for a devuan sysadm to
fall into having in mind how devuan started over a choice policy.
