Shake it apparently. This is something I read recently that a certain
DE(? or is it just X11) will increase the mouse size to make it more
visible.

That seems to work. Otherwise it is my eyes finally detecting the
movement. Although I suspect the computer just drops the mouse pointer
for a second or two and this bumps it to the top of the drawing queue.

FWIW, I'm using adwaita as my theme under mouse and touchpad settings.
Icon size is 50. This has the best contrast to my eyes.
