I have an i386 laptop that i have upgraded to excalibur. After the upgrade
when I type in my password at the login prompt, the screen goes black and
then the login prompt reappears.

I found a couple of things to try online through searches but neither
worked. One was to remove the .Xauthority and the other was to reset
ownership of the home directory. Neither of these worked.

Any other ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
