Speaking of which, I've fired up the remaining Gentoo desktop, getting
ready to migrate it to Devuan as well. The document file viewer in mc
is named "doc.sh". Out of sheer curiousity, I checked...

On the Devuan machine "find /usr/ -name doc.sh" returns...
/usr/lib/mc/ext.d/doc.sh

On the Gentoo machine "find /usr/ -name doc.sh" returns...
/usr/libexec/mc/ext.d/doc.sh

When I tar'd and scp'd /home/waltdnes from the Gentoo machine to the
Devuan machine, file "~/.config/mc/mc.ext.ini" had the wrong path, and
mc fell flat on its face trying to render documents. Mystery solved.
