And yes, I am *also* seeing a single long line. 8^!
The email client* I have used since 1995 gives me the option to set a
number of things very useful to me these days:
- disable text styling (and never send styled emails)
- always paste [whatever] text as plain text
- set line width (which for some reason I long ago set at 70)
- use ctrl+J to reformat whatever text I have to what I have set.

The *only* MS Windows (proprietary but *absolutely* free) application
I use in my Linux box. Being able to run it under WINE was *the*
dealbreaker for me to become 100% Linux, for well over 10 years now.
I think it is the best and probably oldest running (1993?) email
client there is.
That said, all this miles long character line width thing is probably
linked to web mail or HTML mail clients, which I absolutely *loathe*.
I think that HTML mail is the bane of messaging, email and the web as
a whole. Of course, YMMV.
