..you're messing around with 3 clocks here, your wall clock
(ideally showing NTP server time), your laptop's hardware clock
possibly showing Microsoft's opinion of time, and your operating
system's messed up opinion of time on boot-up, before you add
your own opinion again.

.._read_ 'man hwclock', I'm _guessing_ you wanna follow up your
next 'date --set="something" ' with 'hwclock --systohc' or some
such, as root or with sudo. Merely skimming thru it, only works
if you _do_ know WTF you're doing here...

..and you do wanna use some NTP client software to automagically
finetune your clocks and fix those https etc issues.
