I also use Openbox. I have a 6 pixel desktop click area along the left
side of the screen so I can use mouse menus if I have to. No
panel, nothing on the desktop surface, just the default black.
Configured so Ctrl+Shift+; brings up a dmenu command runner,
Ctrl+Shift+. brings up the window list, Ctrl+Shift+, brings up the
Openbox menu, Ctrl+Shift+d brings up the cal command, Ctrl+9 brings up
UMENU2 with my custom menu, Alt+0 closes the focused window, and alt+1
thru alt+8 bring up the corresponding workspaces.
Because my eyesight is bad and I have a short attention span, my
focused window has a dark green titlebar with white writing, whereas
the other windows have lightgray window bars with black writing.
>That is very simple and clean for me.
I feel the same way.
