- I noticed this email[2] this morning on the DNG mailing list, asking 
for clarification about point #2 of our announcement instructions 
regarding usrmerge[3].
- In short:
   - **Devuan statement:** "2. The safest way to migrate from Daedalus/
     stable to Excalibur/testing is to first ensure there is sufficient
     disk space to accommodate the merge, and that you have made backups
     before proceeding."
   - **User question:** "Does #2, above mean to make sure there is enough
     space in / to copy in all of an externally mounted /usr?"
- Is anyone able to clarify this question?
   - (hendrik) I think the answer is "yes", but our instructions should
     make it clear where there needs to be sufficient disk space, and how
     much is sufficient (i.e., for all of /usr to be copied into / )
   - (bb|hcb) To be precise `usrmerge` will move files from `/` to `/usr`
     and replace them with symlinks. It is safe to assume that after
     moving each file there will be enough space for the symlink in `/`.
     There is one more caveat with this setup - separate `/usr` requires
     initrd...
     - (Xenguy) Thanks for the replies folks, but I'm going to abandon my
       attempts to resolve the user's question(s) due to lack of
       sufficient understanding of these issues.  If anyone else wants to
       pick up the ball I dropped, feel free of course.
