For clarity I was using Xmaxima and summing series up to 1,000,000
terms. I won't do that again.

I use the Xfce desktop on Devuan which is very stable and works quite
well. The culprit here is Maxima, whichuses Lisp. I need to learn a
computer language to do numerical computations.
