Asunto: [DNG] Something completely different OS
Good morning,
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day for those in the US (maybe elsewhere?).
Just a couple thoughts for those who are more technically savvy than I.
Maybe total new approach would be better. It seems we are like Don Quixote on getting around systemd.
I was thinking of rather a different OS written completely in rust such a redox-os.
Instead of a monolithic kernel and mountains of unintelligible code which increases the attack vector with every release, we could help the redox people with their micro kernel strategy with what is needed to run programs in userspace (like plan9) get their OS into release candidate? It seems less is better than more anymore.
It is close to production and can run on some hardware and has several styles (desktop, server, embedded). It can run linux programs and the init looks like what you have been describing in other threads:
https://doc.redox-os.org/book/ch04-03-boot-process.html

Programming in rust (or any other memory safe language) seems like the future against many hacks and might be a great OS to hand to the future of computing.
I'm throwing this out there to get other's input. I have zero chops in programming.
Best,
Charles
