I've been using PCLinuxOS for years, just updating via
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade
It's never crashed.
I think the kde/plasma desktop is a bit much. I use JWM almost exclusively,otherwise. On Devuan I stick with Forge's tailored JWM.
But I prefer to stick with Tex, the developer's, main desktop. He keeps the applications pretty current, sort of at Debian Testing level but without the risk.
