Ok. Peculiar. Could you share your ~/.xinitrc? It's highly unusual for
Xorg to terminate prematurely without logging.
So secondly, please remove those log files and make another test
running startx, to see exactly which logging is produced. Btw note
that you run startx as no-root user; if as root then Xorg will log to
/var/log/Xorg.0.log rather.
