I used ipcop-0.1.1 thru 1.4.2 when it was active.

..and IME they all deploy cheap hardware running some cheaply throttled
down version of Linux and Busybox under a config script and a webserver
running an admin web GUI. Try a nmap scan on it or on your neighbors
isp hardware. IME, all isps are in criminal violation or the GPL.

..same story with grid power meters, if you have them outside your
own property or on your external walls like in the US, you are all
fine and in compliance with the GPL whenever and however you leave
your property, as long as you never take custody of those meters,
GPL compliance never becomes your problem.

..if you ever have any such grid power meter or isp hardware inside
your home (or hotel room ;o)), so that access to said hardware depends
on you unlocking and opening a door to allow access to said hardware,
you have taken custody of said hardware, and GPL compliance has become
your problem. If you are unable to supply the source code on whatever
GPL software was hiding in the hardware you left behind when you left
your home (or hotel room ;oD), either take any such suspect hardware
along with you and return it only when you CAN comply FULLY to the GPL
or whatever license is used on that hardware you kept in your custody,
or face the wrath of copyright law in courts and prison once you get
caught for software piracy.

..you should therefore request GPL etc compliance on anyone within
3 years of taking custody of any hardware you suspect may run any
pirated GPL software. Criminals may try to local area monopoly to
deny you service, even for "running Linux" or for asking for software
license compliance info or source code. The easiest way to comply
to the GPL is leave a copy of all the GPL software in each hardware
device, on a CD inside, on or under said device, you may even charge
good money for the CD if it is e.g. taken away from the hotel room you
rented out. ;o)
