That probably answers why I was having problems with my Daedalus install
to new partitions.
I could get it to boot, but not run startx, so no GUI. I remembered
having this problem, previously, and needing firmware-linux-nonfree, but
I could not find it. I eventually got it working by using dd to copy my
Chimarea partitions (instead of cp, or rsync) and then booting to and
upgrading the new partitions. Now that I have added non-free-firmware
to my sources.list file, I was able to update 7 firmware files that were
not upgrading, before.
