reads "files" on the local host trying to reslove something and the
reminder of your statement should obey /etc/resolv.conf whenever
cat /etc/nsswitch.conf | grep "hosts:"
reads dns?
Also, as stated previously by Adrian, Firefox (at least) announced the
other year that they would tunnel name resolving through HTTPS to some
server and bypass the above. Not sure if that applies to Fennec or not.
