Hello. I've seen that there are a bunch of people on this list who
are pretty comfortable with DNS, which is a field in which I only do
some minimal bricolage: I installed dnsmasq on the home Devuan desktop
to resolve its own address and ease connections from other devices. This
desktop provides ssh, http and CUPS services to the LAN. It works as
expected from Linux laptops: the desktop's name is resolved when it is
running.
I've recently bought my first smartphone. I try to get the maximum
freedom on Android and did create neither a Google account nor a Samsung
account. From F-Droid, I've installed Fennec (a fork from Firefox) to
browse the web, but Fennec cannot resolve the name of my desktop, though
it finds it when I give the numerical address. I suspect the DNS
configuration on Android (or in Fennec proper).
