..from a vt, try 'mount -vo remount,exec /tmp ' to get a more verbose
error message, add more "v"'s for more verbosity.
..I would have expected to see 'mount -o remount,rw /tmp' there.
..you should be able to get to a vt with e.g. [Alt]+[F2] or some such
key stroke combination or from a "command prompt" menu option.
