I've noticed several popular projects with sysvinit script
but no systemd service unit. Among them cpufreqd, fetchmail,
lprng, sendmail-bin, x11-common.

As I suggested previously, there will have to be a big,
visible push to convert these projects to systemd service
units before sysvinit compatibility can be dropped entirely.
