And this should be to reduce writings on the SSD to extend its lifetime...

But some people (also in this mailing list) say SSD disks now have big
lifespan (400-600x their drive capacity -- the samsung 870 500GB evo I am
going to use has TBW of 400TB and 5y warranty) so that /home, /tmp and /var
could stay on the SSD...

I remain a bit confused...

Two reasons: 1) need tmp space to build from sources "big" programs (like
icecat), 2) there was enough free space left on the system disk ;-)

I meant symlinks

The idea was use either mounts (/etc/fstab) for entire partitions and
symlinks for some directories...

I don't usually use them (except for a nsf mount in fstab) and I don't
really know about it...

Please can you help me (thanks)?
Bind mounting A->B:
- actual data will be only on B?
- this will avoid writings on A? or it is a sort of mirror?
- I should backup only B? or both A and B?
- which mount options I should use?
