Thank you to the polar bear hunter - - - - grin!

modprobe -v nvme - - - - again a null line and
modprobe nvme --first-time does NOT report success

modinfo nvme - - - now that puked almost a screen full of lines
the interesting line was (can't remember the first part and can no
longer see it on the screen) . . . depends : nvme-core
did # modprobe nvme-core followed with # modprobe nvme
and then success with # modprobe nvme --first-time - - -
module already installed !!!!!!

detect disks does NOT find the 'listed' hard disk

BIOS says that the hard disk is a Ramaxel MMC64G

Dunno what's now the issue - - - maybe this Win laptop has
safeguards so that nothing but WIN can run on it.

Lenovo 1002 2nd Gen
Bios FRCN17WW
AMD 3015e w Radeon Graphics

Any ideas how to kick this thing in the pants so that it will read
the install SDD?

TIA
