I also use Claws Mail. It has a "mark" feature.

Message > Mark > Mark

If you're in the right mode/setting, you can hover over that menu entry
and press your desired hotkey.

It will then also flag the folder which has any marked item.

You can also assign a hotkey to jump to the next flagged message.

View > Go to > Next marked message
