AFAICT this needs gpsd to be running, but gpsd is not started by
default.
When gpsd is started from init scripts, both location-daemon (and
maemo stuff depending on it) and foxtrotgps should work.
(And I'd advocate putting foxtrotgps into default distribution, for
easy testing of GPS functionality).
