Have you yet checked what packages are installed by default in the
several existing Devuan-family ISOs? logically, you should start by
reporting the results of that checking. Please let us know what you find.
If you don't like any of the existing ISOs, you are of course welcome to
create one whose default package selection you prefer. Or perhaps write
preseed instructions to feed to d-i. Or both.
Maybe I'm judging too hastily, but your post reads like trying to
implicitly ask other people to do work. IMO, it would be more
constructive to help the project by pitching in.
Personally, I find debates about default package selection on a highly
modular distro with excellent package management a poor use of time,
that is better spent acquainting newcomers with apt-get and with the
welcome-to-Linux realisation that running through OS installers is the
beginning of system configuration, not the end of it.
