If you want something simple, there's Unicsy Demo project (and ofone
inside). https://github.com/pavelmachek/unicsy_demo/tree/master/ofone

I started rewriting it to rust, (tui repository, rfone).

If you want "real" contacts application, I suggest looking at Gnome
contacts. Purism people made it working on a phone, and it should be
mainlined.

They also have a gui for doing phones. Phosh, iirc; but they use
different backend, so that's probably not applicable.

I'd definitely suggest _not_ starting "yet another phone shell".

One thing I thought about... should the sms go into "mailbox" format?
So that common mail clients can be used to access them, concurrent
access works, imap works, etc? [Unfortunately, details are tricky].
