Ko rātou, ko tātou | On Otherness and Us-ness
Women of Islam, from inside and alongside
Curated by Salama Moata McNamara and Sonja van Kerkhoff, Northart, Northcote, Auckland, March 2020
Open call in any media for an exhibition which highlights the role of women, the feminine or gender in Islam, including responses to Islamophobia. There will be an accompanying public programme. Subject to funding transport costs will be covered or partially covered.
Works can be in any medium, old works or future works. Innovative interpretations of the themes are welcome as we hope some might use this as an opportunity to do some research on individual women of Islam or issues of gender or to deepen in issues or understandings in relation to Islam.
For digital works monitors, projectors, players, computers will be supplied. Works do not need to be framed. Works can be for sale. There is a gallery commission. There might be a publication: if so, some works might be included in this.
Email, your name, location of residence or studio, and either:
1. images of your work (jpgs or pdfs or links oline) with a brief description (less than half a page), stating media and dimensions.
2. Up to half a page description of a plan for a future work with up to two examples of previous work or a link to other work with an indication of the dimensions and media.
Deadline for submissions: 21 September 2019 to sonjavank@???<
mailto:sonjavank@gmail.com>
