Hello, Squatconf people! it been a while.
Three things I want to discuss with you.
1. An update about location for the 19th of May.
2. Renaming Squatconf, since Holger flagged some issues with a new name.
3. Call for talks and talks repo
*1. A little update regarding the location for Sunday the 19th. *
Here are answers from Sidsel - a person who takes care of the venue and
helps to organise stuff there.
The venue is free of charge for us, but it has also an apartment attached
to the loft. They can't offer the apartment for free, but we don't have to
have it, only if we want to / have a budget to cover it.
*1. What’s the max capacity for the space:*
*- 60-70 if ppl sit on the floor as well as on chairs. There are some
cushions. More can be sourced.*
*2. How many chairs are there:*
*- 40 chairs*
*3. What time we can arrive and when should we leave:*
*- Whenever you wish, we’ll coordinate keys.*
*4. Can we stay till late / early Monday:*
*- Yes, you just need to try to keep it “quiet” so that the hosts don’t
have to bribe the neighbours *
*5. Can people crash at the space Sat - Sun and Sun - Mon if they clear the
space by Monday morning:*
*- Yes, but there’s no shower though unless you have the apartment too*
*6. Do you still rent out the flat that is attached to the venue and if yes
whether it’s available 18-20th and how much it would cost*
- *Yes,** would be good if you could actually rent it so we don’t have
Airbnb’s during that weekend. We do 119eur a night, but let me know what
would work in your budget*
That's it about the venue for the 19th of May
*2. Renaming*
Regarding choosing another name for the gathering that Holger suggested.
Idk what was the issue with the old name, but I heard there was some issue,
so - renaming. I couldn't come up with any self-descriptive and simple
identifiers besides these:
- Postconf - because it takes place after some other conf. Not to be
confused with something that is happening at the postoffice.
- Day after conf - because it takes place a day after another conf. Not to
be confused with emergency contraception
- Decompression conf - because it's chill and we can make it a good
decompression zone after an intense DTN, yet intense enough. Not to be
confused with a scuba diving safety conference.
Any other suggestions? @holger krekel <holger@???> ? On one hand we
don't desperately need an identifier for it, we just need a physical
location for people to come to. On the other hand, would be nice to give it
some name to be able to refer to it in conversations and when inviting
people.
*3. Call for talks and talks repo*
Squatconf no longer uses github for sorting out the talks
https://github.com/squatconf/talks
It would be great to have a call for talks and submitted talks in one place
somewhere for people to see.
@almereyda and others - any suggestions? May be just use cryptpad folder
for that?
By the "call for talks" I just mean sending to friends and any people we
would like to see at the event some basic info and instructions on
submitting a talk. Or any other activity other than a talk.
That's it for now.
best,
k
