  Must be something dealing with at-spi2-core, which I don't have
installed, and Gnome3 and systemd.
What surprises me is that smplayer should be just a GUI frontend to
mplayer, and mplayer has no problem playing the video recording.

  Oh well, so much about the evidently bloated GUI.
