Hi,

I installed a Devuan server for use with KVM back in October last year.

I've set up a new server to replace a different aging xen server (so
also a KVM server to be).

The new server is almost 100% the same as the older Devuan server, but
with nvme m.2 cards instead of the sata type.

The old server has this kernel:
4.9.0-0.bpo.2-amd64

linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64 3.16.39-1+deb8u2
linux-image-4.7.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 4.7.8-1~bpo8+1
linux-image-4.8.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 4.8.15-2~bpo8+2
linux-image-4.9.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 4.9.2-2~bpo8+1
linux-image-4.9.0-0.bpo.2-amd64 4.9.18-1~bpo8+1
linux-image-amd64 4.9+79~bpo8+1

The new Devuan KVM server has this kernel:
3.16.0-4-amd64

linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64 3.16.39-1+deb8u2
linux-image-amd64 3.16+63

One of the Devuan VMs (a webserver) on the older Devuan KVM server also
has the same kernel as the new server.

I don't recall doing anything special to get a back port kernel; was the
back ports kernel made available generally and if so, was it removed?

I'm not sure of any reason why the older KVM machine would have the 4.9
kernel. Any hints as to why or how that happened?

Thanks
AndrewM
