Hi all,

I thought this announcement would be of interest as
it relates to managing complexity with Linux and having
modular system with interchangeable parts, which of course
includes freedom of init system, and freedom to opt for the
traditional unix security model.

The latest GoboLinux 1GB "LiveCD" release contains a full environment,
and an installer. The distribution is x86_64 only.

By inducing each application to install all its files under
one directory, GoboLinux lowers the cognitive burden
of managing packages and administering the system.
It also eliminates the need for a database of installed
packages.

Software is compiled from authoritative sources, using
"compile recipes", that have capabilities comparable to
other packaging systems.

The GoboLinux architecture even allows you to have multiple
versions of programs and libraries coexisting on the same
system, including for multiple architectures.

The main website is here:

And the wiki, with extensive documentation:

Cheers,

Joel
