You two have this problem trapped: One has it, one doesn't, all you
need to do is exploit the differences. I'd suggest a starting point of
KatolaZ tarballing his /etc/apt or wherever package management config
is kept, and emailing it to Nikolaus, who can look for differences and
change them, one or a few at a time, on his own system, keeping track
of what he changed.
