Sujet: [unSYSTEM] Turkey shuts down internet in Kurdish areas after mass unrest over arrest of elected mayors
Earlier this year Kurds overwhelming voted pro-HDP mayors in southeast
Turkey. The HDP has a programme of direct democracy, women's and
minority rights and ecology.

After the coup, Erdogan has been cracking down on opposition arresting
mayors, especially in the southeast and replacing them with his own cronies.

Now in Diyarbakir, a major Kurdish city, they have arrested both the
mayors (by HDP rules, there need to be a woman and a man sharing the
position). After mass unrest, the ruling party has shutdown the internet
in the southeast:

People are apparently driving long distances to get a connection and
post abuses by military and police to the internet.
