Auteur: Robert Storey Date: À: dng Sujet: [DNG] My ISP is blocking devuan.org
As I mentioned in the "Beta" thread, whenever I tried to access devuan.org,
I got a message:
"This webpage is not available"
It was suggested to me that this might be due to heavy server load, but
that I could download the torrent from the link that Irrwahn kindly sent
me. That did, by the way, work, and I was able to obtain a copy of the
Devuan beta.
But even now several days later, and I cannot access devuan.org. My desktop
computer connects to the Internet via ADSL. It finally occurred to me that
maybe I should try accessing the site with my smart phone, which uses a
different service provider. When doing that, devuan.org comes up straight
away. Just to be sure it's not a glitch with my installed OS (which is
antiX, by the way), I tried setting my desktop computer to access the
Internet using my smart phone as a wireless hub - that worked fine.
So my initial suspicion is that my ISP has suddenly started blocking
devuan.org. Before I go complain to them about that, I do first want to try
accessing the site via another person's DSL network with the same provider.
I may have a chance to do that later today. I should note that a week ago,
I had no issues connecting to devuan.org with the same ISP - this started
about the time of the beta release.
Just for everyone's interest, this is taking place in Taiwan. I'll reveal
the name of the ISP in question after I've confirmed if it is in fact the
ISP's fault (I don't want to make a false accusation here).
