"Retaining ndiswrapper" means volunteers spending time on helping hardware
vendors with an "if you don't use Windows, you're free to go fuck
yourself" attitude to make money. If you want to use such hardware,
you're totally free to spend your time doing the work the guy who took
your money should have done but you can hardly blame anyone who is not
willing to volunteer for this.
Leaving this aside, what's the problem with the apt-get changes? Judging
from the documentation, the described use-case still seems supported
albeit the syntax for accomplishing this has changed slightly. Is this
wrong? If so, why/ how. If not, what else were you referring to?
