     Edward,

We cannot insist enough on this: it is an illusion, typical of the
youth, to believe that freedom = danger. Being treated of "young" is
kind of a compliment at the age of 48, no? But, being serious, Hendrik
and Roger are right about this. You can have as much freedom with higher
level languages, less danger, less repetitive burden and more
productivity, all in the same time.

I didn't review your code. This has been done by others anyway. My
problem is that I don't see the big picture. I would like to know what
your program is doing and by which method, explained in plain English,
because I don't understand the C++ parlance and am not familiar with
Glib.

I would also like to know what your understanding is of how the
things are handled by the cooperative interaction of ifup, ifdown and
wpa_supplicant. This is something for which I cannot find a
comprehensive description, and I think a full understanding is necessary
*prior* to endeavour what you are doing. This is because these 3 tools
are doing a lot of things, and rather well and it is
a waste of time and talent to re-invent the wheel.

     Best regards.
