Thank you for the explanations. I think I've 'got' it now. :) Please post the link(s) to the documentation when it's done. As always, I'm available to proofread if you feel the need . . .

nah, you are a bit too much of a modest person.

the confusion is not your fault, the problem is that documentation is
still lacking on files.devuan.org. There is the README so far, but there
should be more in there.

yes, all installers available so far are jessie.

these are the direct results from d-i compilation, from there they are
tested and mirrored on http://files.devuan.org so I recommend using the
latter.

the names on files.devuan.org are descriptive and there is a search box
that is intended to facilitate what you need, that's why the directory
organization is flat. for instance type "64" or "32" to narrow down the
list only to those architectures, or "iso" to look only for usb/cd
bootable installers.

BEWARE the -auto- prefix in this and other files means that this is a
FULLY AUTOMATED installer which will require no interaction whatsoever
(very useful for large deployements) but once launched will proceed
formatting and installing without asking any confirmation. We provide
this to save you all the time of preparing an iso with a pre-seed file
which turned out to be very tricky to prepare, it is actually the
installer used to go further creating vagrant and qemu virtual machines.

to reorganize and document files.devuan.org is the next item on my short
tasklist before a beta release. please be patient until I manage to find
the time for that, august is being incredibly busy for me due to some
other commitments.

ciao!
