I can respect that. =)

Personally, I applaud what Devuan is doing and I am watching with
interest. That said, I believe that others are planning better long term
solutions than most of Linux right now (with the exception of Gentoo who
already has one).

Because of the way that the Linux community functions as a whole, at
some point forking all of the software that uses systemd will become
untenable. Some projects are "embracing the horror", not by using
systemd, but replicating its API or forking systemd. Once any of these
become common, you will be able to compile any software that depends on
systemd, but leave your own boot process intact.

Let's hope for a little software Darwinism.
