Hey, Steve! Good to hear from you!

Now that is a very good point. Unfortunately, running systemd inside of
Docker container requires a privileged container and does not work out of
the box as smoothly as suggested, e.g.:
http://developerblog.redhat.com/2014/05/05/running-systemd-within-docker-con
tainer/

If we accept that Devuan's userbase will be capable of such, that is
definitely a reasonable answer, if you have the knowledge, resources and
time to spare. If assume the Devuan user, then I heartily agree with you.
By comparison, for the "non-technical" end user, a shim is easier. I suppose
what really defines the situation is that it comes down to what kind of
audience Devuan is for.

Personally, I'd just like to say that while I respect what Docker is trying
to do, I feel that Docker is about as effective as to run certain services
in a chroot. A lot of people do not have the experience to understand the
problems or implications that go with it. I'd rather just use a VM and be
done with it for the present. Less mess.

I'll be watching from afar. Still waiting to see if a dev list for
development issues is going to appear.

Take care!
