I think my status as an enemy of systemd is well documented, including
my armstronging from the Debian list. Once I get rid of Wheezy, my
computer won't be using systemd for init, and to the extent possible
won't use anything remotely connected with systemd.
That being said, the perfect is the enemy of the good, and I'd prefer
to have a mostly-depoetterized distro, and slowly get rid of
poetterizations one by one, rather than try to completely depoetterize
it and never get done with the complete depoetterization.
Also, Devuan's charter is a depoetterized Debian, not a whole new
distro whose single priority is lack of systemd. This precludes things
like throwing out udev, throwing out dbus, throwing out every last
vestige of systemd on the first try. Instead, we can continuously
develop alternatives to every systemd component.
