It seems to me that it might be useful for a list of all packages to be present somewhere (the wiki?) that states whether that package: currently requires systemd or one of it's conjoined packages/libraries; requires systemd only when compiled with an option; does not require systemd at all.

Alongside could be listed the dependency requirements of various possible distros.

The reasoning would be to highlight to people researching the subject to see where the "enforcing" of these OPTIONS are by distro's in actuality.

I understand this might be a lot of effort for an individual, perhaps a crowd sourced effort of discovery, including perhaps the original authors of the software.
