first of all a little context for everyone who hasn't been involved
in the discussion concerning this topic that has been going on
for a short while outside this mailing list:
Some weeks ago I offered caedes to help with the development of
libbitcoin and the related projects.
We decided that one worthwhile goal would be to further the (debian-)
packaging of obelisk/gateway and their dependencies and to polish
the build and setup process for them some more to get better
usability.
I started to fix some of the issues with install-sx.sh that Pablo
reported he was having when he started to build debian packages and
also some that were reported on github.
The major question that has come up during that process was:
What is the current status of the libbitcoin stack, i.e.
libbitcoin-server and dependencies?
And does it actually make sense to invest the effort into the
sx/obelisk stack's build system or would it be a better idea to push
libbitcoin-server/-explorer and release and package that as opposed
to obelisk/sx?
Eric and Pablo proposed to move that discussion here to the mailing
list, as some of you guys might have a better understanding of
the current state of the project and could give some input on which
way to move on.
