I hope you're incorrect. I hope it's for real and happens. Forking
isn't that hard, you just take what version you have and go. That
first step is the hardest tho, doing something if you havn't been
doing it for awhile. But if you're in the stream of things (say, have
been maintaining a mod for awhile), then forking is just a matter of
stopping updating from the parent project.

What happens then is that you actually get to fix bugs faster than
they are created (because only you are creating them now), and you get
(or create) a stable base eventually as the churn from other people
ends (and alot of it eventually really is churn, people rewrite whole
systems constantly for some reason... always running in place).
