Dear all,

Firstly, thank you for starting this effort. I hope it will be
successful in meeting its objectives, once they have been
concretely defined, and will improve the state of affairs in the
greater Linux ecosystem by providing some much needed diversity for
the longer term, and a non-broken jessie release in the shorter term.

I'm certainly willing to get involved, but more than that I'm happy
to help anyone who might not have the same level of familiarity with
Debian as myself. Over the years, I've worked on all sorts of
different parts of the system, including:

- printing (CUPS, inkjet drivers)
- package building automation (sbuild, schroot, buildd/wanna-build)
- init (sysvinit, sysv-rc, initscripts)
- booting (initramfs and util-linux)
- some installer work
- some dpkg work

I've also some expertise with regard to the setup of the existing
Debian infrastructure which may be useful with respect to
reimplementing parts of it for Devuan.

If anyone needs any information, help or have questions about any of
this stuff, please do ask. There are also other Debian developers
subscribed to the list who I'm sure would also be happy to help and
advise.

Regards,
Roger
