Tim:
1: "Trickle-down" has nothing to do with, in your metaphor, excess fruit
falling from the tree to be picked up by all and sundry. It's the idea
that those on the top of the existing economic heap are "job creators"
and that by subsidizing them into creating "jobs" ("indentures" is a
better word) we benefit the common human. That's a whole steaming pile
of stinky, and I won't get into it. Nice idea, not shown to work. /EVER/.
2: You say: "forced wealth-redistribution works vsery well, but it is
wrong on every level of the moral argument", and then go on to say
another thing. The first part of what you said, I assert, is
/desirable/. And I refer you to the Rothbard PDF at
http://invisiblemolotov.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/ma1-all-power-to-the-soviets/
for my justification. As to the second part of that sentence, I disagree
completely. "forced wealth-redistribution ... is wrong on every level of
the moral argument" cannot /possibly/ be true. It is the case we live in
a world where the excesses of the fathers are being extracted from the
sons, that primitive accumulation (look it up) rules the landscape and
that (at least in Europe and some parts of South America) there are
existing, current land titles that bring their elite holders millions
and billions in income per year /and have as their justification the
grants of emperors of Rome./
If our hypothetical means of wealth redistribution collide with both our
morals and our knowledge of history, one or the other must bow in the
quest for present justice. I will state here plainly my position, that
/anyone/ advancing a communal or actually-working-it claim to land or
capital should enjoy the /presumption of correctness/ in any proceeding
aimed at disposing of the wealth of tyrants, kings and congresscritters.
In fact, I'll go further: If you want a "moral argument" from me, let's
we kill all of them first, and then sort out what's left.
Peace,
Mike
